Violin and Viola Lessons

Originally from Arizona, Ms. Zara Christopher relocated to the Bluegrass State in 2013 and has over 25 years teaching experience. She earned her B.M. and M.M. in Viola Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University and the University of Michigan. Her professional orchestral career includes the Ann Arbor Symphony, Flint Symphony, Saginaw Bay Symphony, Lansing Symphony, and Tucson Symphony. In addition, Ms. Christopher enjoys working as a freelance musician and has played with Josh Groban, Clay Aiken, Rod Stewart, Johnny Mathis, Mannheim Steamroller, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Locally, she is a founding partner, music arranger, and 1st violinist of Electria, Kentucky's only electric string trio.

Ms. Christopher teaches violin and viola lessons in the Traditional style, ages 7 and up. She likes to use a variety of sources for music and believe that whatever motivates the student to practice is the right choice at that time, coupled with technique work. She radiates a positive personality while incorporating games, music history, and theory, catered to the goals of each student.

Students of Ms. Christopher are prepared annually for various auditions including SCAPA, All-State Orchestra, KMEA Honors Orchestra, CKYO, Foster Music Camp, Governor’s School for the Arts, and college auditions. Many have received music scholarships.
